Keep in mind that, for
the most part, less is more. Naturally, everyone wants something
snazzy that will attract visitors, but a glaring, poorly organized
site with a lot of gadgets will actually send visitors away.
time is crucial. It's essential to reduce the size of images [the KB, not the
screen inches]. If someone has to wait for a page to load, usually,
they won't. They leave.
While Flash was
good, flashy is bad. Motion
for the sake of motion is just tiresome.
Colors should be
harmonious. Sound should never be on a site unless it has a very
specific purpose, such as in a video of a reading or song.
Most important, a
visitor should know within a few seconds what the website is about.
